Jean-Paul Harreman (1973), geboren in het Zeeuws Vlaamse Terneuzen kreeg de muziek met de paplepel ingegoten. Twee generaties muzikanten gingen hem voor, opa had een hammond orgel in de kamer en vader Kees speelde de bas en toetsen en had een hele verzameling instrumenten in huis. Toch duurde het tot een maand voor zijn zeventiende verjaardag voor hij zijn eerste instrument ging bespelen. Een vervroegd verjaardagscadeau leidde tot een eerste bandje binnen een maand en tot het eerste optreden binnen 3 maanden na de eerste noten op de basgitaar.

In de eerste 5 jaar speelde Harreman vooral veel met mensen als Frank Montis, Arno Krijger en zijn kompanen van De Lamaketta's. Voorlopig hoogtepunt een jamsessie met jazz-trompettist Roy Hargrove in de Parijse jazzclub 'La Boite du Jazz'. In 1996 vertrok hij voor zijn studie voor 7 maanden naar het Spaanse Mallorca. Daar rolde hij in de verassend internationale lokale muziekscene. Hij speelde o.a. met Charles Rolle (ex-The Drifters), Jay Kaye, Richard Vinton, Carmen Jaime, Victor Uris en vele lokale helden. Ook deelde hij het podium met Lynwood Slim en Dave Specter.

Terug in Nederland wilde hij de inmiddels opgedane podiumconditie op peil houden en speelde op een bepaald moment in 13 bands. Sinds die tijd zijn er geen bands meer bij gekomen, van die bands zijn alleen nog Johnny Slipper en Jive for your life over. Speciale vermelding verdienen de bands Flow!, Francis Levoy en De Lamaketta's, met deze bands werden achtereenvolgens een Unplugged Competitie en twee Zeeuwse Popprijzen (beste cd 2004, 2006) gewonnen. Met De Lamaketta's werd plaats 53 van de MegaTop100 bereikt.

Jean-Paul speelt bas en contrabas en is webmaster van concertwebsite bluesconcert.org, schrijft cd-recensies voor Back To The Roots en werkt daarnaast als Manager Marketing & Analyse voor energie serviceprovider PVNED.

Jean-Paul Harreman (1973), born in Zeeuws Flemish town Terneuzen was born in a musical family. Two generations of musicians preceded him, his grandfather had a hammond organ and father Kees played bass and keyboards and had a collection of instruments around the house. Still it took him until a month before his 17th birthday to start playing his first instrument. An early birthday present got him his first band within a month and his first gig within 3 months after the first notes on the bass guitar.

During the first 5 years Harreman mainly played with people like Frank Montis, Arno Krijger and his friends of De Lamaketta's. Highlight of this period was a jamsessie with jazz-trumpet player Roy Hargrove in Paris jazzclub 'La Boite du Jazz'. In 1996 he lived in Spain's Mallorca for 7 months. He tumbled into the surprisingly international local music scene. He played with a.o. With Charles Rolle (ex-The Drifters), Jay Kaye, Richard Vinton, Carmen Jaime, Victor Uris and many other local heroes. He also shared the stage with Lynwood Slim and Dave Specter.

Back in the Netherlands he tried to keep up his stage form and at a certain point played in 13 bands. Since that period no new bands have been added, the only remaining bands are Johnny Slipper and Jive for your life. A special note on the bands Flow!, Francis Levoy and De Lamaketta's, with these bands he won respectively an Unplugged Competition and two Zeeland Pop Awards (best cd 2004, 2006). With De Lamaketta's they reached the 53rd spot in the Dutch MegaTop100.

Jean-Paul plays bass and upright bass and is webmaster of concert website bluesconcert.org, writes cd-reviews for Back To The Roots and works as Manager Marketing & Analyse for energy serviceprovider PVNED.
