The advantage of keeping a website such as Bobtjes Blues Pages, that as an editor you have very quickly entrance to all kinds of web services. One of them is Musicsubmit that Indie-musiscians supports on all kinds of levels. Regular we get mail sended with the information that a new musician has announcement himself… and if we want to take the time to listen to the music. That’s how I came in contact with Jimmy Joansson from Switzerland. Jimmy was only twelve when he during the Bill Cosby Show got acquainted with music of B.B King. For Jimmy a new world went open and immediately he knew what to do with his further live, namely musician. In the beginning he played piano and even some sax, but soon he couldn’t resist the call from the guitar. Later on he discovered the guitar sound of David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) and rapidly he could not be stopped. Jimmy bought himself a copy of a Gibson Les Paul and a small Peavey amp and learnt himself playing on records of a.o. B.B.King, Carlos Santana and Gary Moore. Through a friend he met a teacher for guitar playing that was asking him: ‘What do you want to play?’, on which Jimmy quick response was: ‘Blues is what I want to play’. After years and of a lot practices finally the time was there to record his first album. ‘Words Don’t Say It All’ has ten tracks and only has a short singing on it, ‘Life My Friend’, (it’s so beautiful my friend). Already from the first song ’Let Me Introduce Myself’ it’s clear that we are facing a real talent. Very modest, but with enormous much passion he touches his guitar and brings me back to a long lost century. The time of Prog Rock with Pink Floyd. ‘Done With It’ again is a song that (especially because of the fast guitar licks) reminds me of Steve Vai, while the title track ‘Words Don’t Say It All’ contains more than enough elements to share it to the ‘Blues’. This is a CD, where Rock, Alternative Rock and Blues melt together to One. Admirers of a.o. Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, David Gilmour, Gary Moore will love this fat bone. A strong debut CD of a rushing in Talent!
