The Bluetongue Bluesband is a five piece band from Sydney, Australia. There also seems to be a typical Australian overall sound, but what is a typical Australian (blues) sound? I think that is also very hard to describe; is it a poppy studio sound with a lot of delay on the guitar in combination with husky vocals? You can tell me. The music here is a cross-over between classic rock and blues, and that is the crucial minus on this CD, in my humble opinion. I can hear that the musicians are experienced and skilled individuals; however I cannot hear the vision they must have had in mind when they got into the studio. Therefore (?) the blues songs, such as ‘Tore Down’ and ‘Honey Hush’ sound incoherent and uninspired. However songs as ‘The Ballad Of D.C’ seem to be more their cup of tea, but they are not blues but pure rock. Diversity is okay but can work in a negative way. The result is an album that will not wake up blues lovers all over the world, but has it to?
