The Devil Had A Woman

Delta Highway

I stayed for 2 weeks, in October, in Mississippi and Tennessee, very much willing to experience in person the roots of the blues, soul and rock and roll. For sure, Memphis was on my “not to be missed” list and I spent four nights on Beale Street. No need to say that this is heaven on earth for every blues fan. I witnessed extreme good bands playing and on Wednesday October 15th I had the pleasure to visit Mr Handy’s Blueshall and this to see the great “Delta Highway” band, who started in North Carolina in 2003 with singer/harmon player Brandon Santini and guitarist Justin Sulek. That same year they moved to Memphis and their first CD was born in 2005 being “Westbound Blues”. By coincidence their second album “The devil had a woman” got into my mailbox, a few days after my return back home. Listening to it brought me back to Blues Hall! The electricity that I heard during their live concert was again present on this CD. The fine guitar sound, the voice of Brandon along with his superb harmonica play is a return to the authentic blues but with a present colour. There is a great variation on this CD. A real must for every blues lover. I hope this band will soon be around in our part of Europe. I would suggest to all to go to any specialized music shop and get this CD.
