Lonely Road

Howlin' Gaels (the)

‘Lonely Road’ from the Scottish band the Howlin’ Gaels is a disc with ten tracks, all self written and last only a good thirty-eight minutes. But it is a project to raise money for other Scottish bands to reveal their music. A noble cause indeed. These guys don’t forget where they come from. Some tracks are a mix of blues and rock like ‘Rockin Down The Lonely Road’, ‘Evil Child’ and ‘Messin’ With Da Man’. Other tracks got a more psychedelic touch to it like ‘Astro Dancer’ and ‘Rosalea’. A different style which is definitely worth while listening to. While you are at it you also might like to listen to ‘One More Time’ or ‘Broken Things’ two great songs where they take it down a little. Frontman Donnie Williamson, vocals and harmonica, with his companions Alex McIntosh on guitar, David Tashinizi on bass and Fraser Sparklin on drums recorded a fine album with a little help from additional keyboard player Duncan McLachlan and Ian Sinclair with his Stormy Monday Horns section. The album was recorded in 2006 but due to some delays it only came to us just now.
