At the end of 2004, Rusty Roots saw the light of day. This band from Peer (Limburg, Belgium) is built around BeeJee (voice, guitar), Tutt (drums), Bob (lead guitar), Body (bass) and JJ Louis (Hammond). In 2006 the first CD '100 miles' was released. 'Electrified' is the title of their second album, and also the opening tune. Listening to the clean guitar solo, you'd expect to hear a blues tune, but the drums turn it into a funky rhythm. What's more to expect... ? The second track 'It's yours To Spend' is just as surprising. A few names from the past -none of which are mentioned on the cover- come to mind hearing this music: Motown and Stax. This CD might just as well have been produced by one of these reknown labels. We can hear Swing & Westcoast-blues in 'Cut Back on Love', which is a smooth track, revealing the Hammond organ at its best. BeeJee's singing is a perfect fit for this kind of music: never shouty, but always sung with the right feeling. This production has 12 tracks on it, of which 8 were written by Rusty Roots. It has been produced by Tee (Marc Thijs), who did a perfect job. All instruments are perfectly recorded, and match up perfectly in the final mix. This production is truely refreshing, easy listening, and makes us wonder how the next record will evolveā¦
