Just before he left to Greece (Home of the Blues?) Bobtje asked me to write something about a master class Slide & Fingerpicking in Diksmuide (B) and while our Bobtje has tanned his Flemish cheeks in Crete’s sun I’d had a look on the website of 4AD for some background information about this music club, from which I had never heard of.

What I find here is a very professional website with a great variety of concerts, projects and many workshops with very different (musical) subjects. Even a workshop “Cooking for artists” is available!

On Sunday the 23rd of November the subject is something quite different than the fine arts of cooking. A real “Masterclass Slide & Fingerpicking” led by the famous Bob Brozman, master in slide, fingerpicking and rhythmic guitar. Bob Brozman, born in New York, 1954, is a guitar player, performer, producer and writer. He studied music and ethno-musicology and started to learn more about the delta blues, early jazz and ragtime. Later on he got interested in other parts of the blues and at this time he has an enormous knowledge of today’s world of music, in which not many others can compete with him. His favourite instrument is the National guitar, also called Hawaiian guitar. During this master class Bob Brozman will discuss several guitar techniques. The master class is given in English, so if you also want to be a master in Slide & Fingerpicking, polish up your English!
