Who fights (or fought) against cancer, needs more than just medical attention. Doctors and hospitals are without any doubt the only effective medical weapon in the battle against cancer, but perhaps just as important is to have time to forget your worries or getting help with normal daily routine or getting answers on questions about this issue. A surrounding without the well know “white coats” is just as important. De Nije Stichting from Hengelo (Netherlands), tries to achieve these targets in many different ways.

2 Musicians who already knew each other and both struck by this disease themselves or in their nearby family, took the initiative for “The Nije Blues”, an event in which they will try to raise funds for De Nije Stichting. Because knowing each other from the NIXBBBlues Club in Enschede, a club completely leaning on volunteers, there was no doubt at all: this happening should take place in this club on the 7th of December this year.

What can we expect this afternoon?
Ofcourse a lot of (blues)Music! Many musicians and bands already given their support to this benefit-initiative and said they play for free this afternoon. There also is a big auction and a lottery in which things as signed CD’s, DVD’s, T-shirts and guitars can be won or bought.

All for the good course. (If you have a collecters-item on a dusty attick, please let the organisation know. Everything that raises money is very welcome!) Notice: it’s not an afternoon voor (ex)cancerpatients and their family and friends. The organisation would like to welcome as many people as possible to raise as much money as possible for this foundation.

According to one of the enthousiastic people organising this event whom I spoke last week, Chris Wobben, the following musicians/bands have already agreed to make this day till a great musical happening: Members of Coupe de Crace, Cuban Heels, Black Top, The Twelve Bar Bluesband and Bradley’s Circus are just a few of the names which will make this day a memoriable day for many people.
